PARMA Road Bridge will be closed today
between 7am and 3pm as precast concrete components are lifted into place.
The bridge will also be closed on Tuesday October 1 to allow the placement of the final bridge deck planks. Detours will be available via BTU Road on both days of the closure.
Shoalhaven City Council is continuing work
on the replacement of the bridge with the project expected to be finished early in October.
Director of Assets and Works, Ben Stewart said the upcoming works represented significant progress on the project.
Following this, the final works will include provision for railings, a pedestrian walk way and a new water main under the bridge, as well as minor road works before fully opening the new bridge.
“Council has timed the upcoming lifting works to coincide with school holidays so as to minimise any disruptions on the local school,” Mr Stewart said.
Mr Stewart said council apologised for any inconvenience caused by the upcoming road closures.
