NORTH Nowra-Cambewarra seniors will have a training run this Sunday at Bernie Regan Complex at 11am, before proper training starts the following Wednesday or Thursday.
After training numbers have dropped off in recent years, it has been decided to cut back to one night a week, so it will be left up to the players to decide which night suits best.
At this month’s meeting, Graham Davidson was appointed first grade captain, after being deputy to Nick McDonald last season.
Both of these players have given great service to the club, having come through the junior ranks to consistently be our best and most reliable contributors. Davidson has shown a great deal of maturity over the last few seasons, both in his batting and approach to the game, and the committee is confident he will do a great job.
Sam Austin will take over from Rob Webeck as second grade skipper, and knows he has big shoes to fill.
While not getting the on-field success he had hoped for, Rob still had a competitive and committed outfit who enjoyed playing under his leadership.
Sam will have plenty of experienced campaigners to help him out, and he is keen to make a great fist of the job.
The club would like to wish Sam the best of luck, and well done for showing the commitment to take the role on.
We still need more numbers to bolster our senior stocks, so if any players out there are looking for an opportunity in first or second grade, contact Greg on 0408 000 528, and they are sure they can accommodate you.
Efforts to secure a playing coach have at this stage not come to fruition, however they are hoping to do so before the season kicks off.
Junior numbers are again strong, and they will field up to eight teams in that competition.
This is a tribute to the parents in our area, giving the kids a chance to play our great game, and also to Vicky Lowbridge and Paul Davidson for their efforts in promoting the sport at that level.
