TWO local primary school students have had their artworks selected for the prestigious year-long Operation Art tour and permanent collection at Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney.
Eight-year-old Bomaderry Public School student Bailey Thurston’s artwork The River and eight-year-old Nowra Public School student Ashton Harvie’s artwork Sea Creatures were selected for the exhibition at the Armory Gallery from more than 900 students in 277 schools across the state.
From this selection, 50 artworks, including Thurston’s and Harvie’s work, were chosen to be a part of the tour, starting with an exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
The artworks will then move to a number of regional galleries before settling at Westmead Children’s Hospital with other art collections.
Now in its 19th year, Operation Art has supplied more than 800 creative and colourful artworks to the hospital.
