A 45-year-old Shoalhaven Heads man has died after falling 25 metres off a cliff at northern side of Black Head at Gerroa.
The accident occurred at approximately 12.45pm.
Ambulance Rescue paramedics attended the man who was on a rock ledge but pronounced him dead at the scene.
Inspector Ron Davis from Lake Illawarra Local Area command said it appeared the man got too close the edge and fell backwards onto the rocks below.
He said paramedics, police rescue and SES responded quickly but the man was dead when paramedics attended.
Inspector Davis said a man who was with the deceased was assisting them with their inquiries.
He said the cliff edge concealed by grass and blustery conditions may have played a role but that would be a matter for the coroner.
