THE Bomaderry Swamp Rats’ successful season has concluded with the club’s u13s and u15s playing in their grand final game at Win Stadium last Saturday.
The teams performed well and did themselves and the club proud.
The u13s got off to a great start when Joe Albert grounded a loose ball to score the first try of the game and Cohan Simpson converted the goal to give Bomaderry the lead.
This was short lived when Berry hit back to make things level.
But when Austin Thompson powered his way through the defence to cross over the line and score, he gave the lead back to the Swamp Rats.
Soaring winger Rory Willett came charging through after Cohan Simpson put up a bomb to come down with the ball and score his first try for the Swamp Rats and kept the Swampies in contention.
In the second half Tyson Marshall found a gap in the line of defence to charge to the try line and score, then Cohan Simpson converted the try.
But Berry came storming home to defeat Bomaderry 50-20.
It was a super effort on making it to the grand final. The team has had a great season.
The u15s Bomaberry team tried hard in their clash against Corrimal.
Tristan Wisniewski scored in the corner for the Swamp Rats and James Eagleton converted the try to keep the team in contention despite being down 16-6 at half-time.
In the second half Oscar Douglas-Make made a move from dummy half to score a try and James converted the goal, but Corrimal were too strong in the end, defeating Bomaberry 38-12.
Well done on making it so far in the team’s first year of playing together.
The club would like to thank all the coaches, league safe, first aid and managers who volunteered this season.
But most of all it would like to thank the players and their families for supporting the Swamp Rats in such a successful season.
The club looks forward to seeing you all back again in 2014.
A final thank you goes to the sponsors. Without their support the club would not be able to function.
All Bomaderry 2013 players and their families are invited to attend the presentation on September 14 at the Bomaderry Bowling Club auditorium starting at 11.30am with lunch provided after the presentation.
