THE two teenagers named on Facebook for the vicious attack of Francois Beugels have been cleared by police.
Facing a media scrum this morning, acting Shoalhaven Local Area Commander, Acting Superintendent Paul Condon has categorically ruled out the teenagers as being involved in the crime.
He said the names of two young people mentioned on Facebook as having been responsible for the attack were not involved in anyway.
Acting Superintendent Condon spoke of the arrest of two men over the vicious bashing of 76-year-old North Nowra man Francois Beugels last Sunday night.
Following information from the public, detectives arrested a 38-year-old and 19-year-old on Thursday evening.
They were taken to Nowra Police Station where they were each charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob with wounding, aggravated assault with intent to rob with actual bodily harm, reckless wounding, affray and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
The men were refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court this morning.
