A 34-year-old Coogee woman has been charged with taking a prohibited drug into the South Coast Correctional Centre.
A drug detection dog caught the woman at 10.30am on Saturday.
She was found to be carrying a small plastic package containing 1.3 grams of Buprenorphine tablets, a semi-synthetic opioid used as an alternative to methadone.
Police arrested the woman and took her to Nowra Police Station where she was charged with possessing a prohibited drug, bringing drugs into a detention centre and breach of bail.
She was refused bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court on September 25.
