AN under strength Shoalhaven Mariners have walked away with one win from three games in round 18 of the Illawarra Baseball League.
Once again it was left to the third grade team to get the victory for the good guys over the Dapto Chiefs.
But the Mariners made hard work of the walk-off 7-6 game.
Shoalhaven had six fielding errors, allowing Dapto to score in the second, fouth, fifth and sixth innings.
The Mariners had 11 hits with Jordan Butfield and Ben Moore each recording one. Matt Forster, Ray Furlong and Aaron Taylor had two each, while Michael Taylor led the way with three.
Second grade had a hard fought 11-5 loss.
Hits came from Brendan Lentell, Simon Lewer, Damien Lewis, Tony Nicholls and Brett Shipp.
First grade, with only three available players, were beaten soundly by the experienced Chiefs side.
The 26-4 loss did see Ben Moore get his first hit in the top grade.
Matt Guyatt and Simon Lewer both had a hit, while Gabe Tate had two hits.
This weekend the Mariners host Wests Cardinals at the IBL Field, Berkeley.
