THE Coalition has pledged $450,000 if elected to develop the next stage of the Round the Bay Walk from Minerva Avenue to Plantation Point Parade in Vincentia.
The announcement was made on Monday by shadow minister for tourism Bob Baldwin and Liberal candidate for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis.
Mrs Sudmalis said she was thrilled to announce the significant commitment for the Vincentia stage of the Round the Bay Walk, an ongoing tourism project that will eventually be a lighthouse to lighthouse tourist trail from Point Perpendicular in the north to Booderee National Park in the south.
“I’m delighted to announce this commitment as the Vincentia
community and the Vincentia Ratepayers’ Association have been working to achieve this funding for many years,” Mrs Sudmalis said.
“When completed, the Round the Bay Walk will provide a number of benefits to our community; more amenities for locals as well as a
better experience for visitors and a boost to tourist numbers.
“This project will be an asset to the community of Vincentia and bolster its tourist appeal meaning more local jobs.”
Mr Baldwin said Jervis Bay was one of Australia’s most spectacular natural assets which the Coalition aimed to make more accessible for local residents and visitors.
“Jervis Bay has a reputation as having some of the cleanest and most unspoilt beaches in Australia and this investment will ensure we can all enjoy their natural beauty,” Mr Baldwin said.
