The Lions jumped to a 30-4 half-time lead and were always in control as they ensured they remained undefeated on home soil this year.
Gerringong got off to an early start, rookie centre Corey Mulhall crossing in the opening minutes for a 4-nil lead.
The home side extended their lead soon after, Patrick Cronin skipped to the outside of his defender and linked up with Joel Roberts who in turn sent Brad Davidson on his way to the line.
Roberts converted to make it 10-nil.
The Magpies were not helping themselves and an error put Gerringong on the attack not long after and the home side capitalised when a sweeping backline movement allowed Roberts to find some space and cross out wide to make it 14-nil.
It was Berry who next sent the scoreboard attendant to work, Josh Coulter’s grubber was batted back into to the five-eighth’s hands to make it 14-4.
Spurred into action by Coulter’s try, the Lions ran in another three tries to round out the half.
Roberts claimed his second when he was the first to arrive after a bomb from Cronin was spilt in the Magpies’ in-goal, the fullback converting for 20-4.
It was Cronin again who caused more harm for the Magpies, the five-eighth finding a hole in the Magpies’ line and took off up field before finding Michael Brown, giving the back-rower the first of his three tries for the day.
Roberts converted to make it 26-4.
Brown bagged his second on the stroke of half-time to make it 30-4.
The second half started out as a scrappy affair, both sides seeming to have left their game in the sheds.
It was the Lions who finally worked their way back into the game, winger Ben Wiringi produced a deft snap kick back in-field, Brown snatching the ball to register his third try, Roberts converted to make it 36-6.
To Berry’s credit they did not give up and soon after hit back, a second man play saw Josh Ingold send winger Jack Bentley over in the corner.
Ingold converted to make it 36-10.
The visitors made it back-to-back tries when Lloyd Sharpe made the most of a Gerringong error, racing away to score.
Ingold’s conversion made it 36-16.
Any attempt at a comeback was too little, too late and the Lions rounded out the score when Wiringi pounced on a Rixon Russell grubber to make it 40-16.
For the Lions Tim Moore, Cronin and Davidson turned in strong performances, while for Berry Coulter, Blake Dryden and Joe Rogers did all they could.
