WITH the Ashes in England drawing to a close and the Australian summer rapidly approaching, Cricket NSW has launched its promotional drive for the 2013/14 season.
Every year, Cricket NSW endorses cricket in primary schools around the state in affiliation with Big Bash franchises, the Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixes.
In the Shoalhaven region, programs are well under way with a number of schools in line to start sessions during term three.
Cricket NSW primary school programs encourage participation and follow the primary school physical education syllabus.
North Nowra Public School has already begun a cricket program, which will incorporate weekly sessions into their allocated sport hours on a Friday.
North Nowra’s Jarryd Sue is one of the NSW cricket promotions officers that will be sporting the lime green colours of the Sydney Thunder and running programs in schools this summer.
“I am really enjoying the opportunity to work at North Nowra Public,” said Sue.
“It is a rewarding experience and plenty of fun at the same time.”
Falls Creek, Nowa Anglican College, Berry, Nowra East, Bomaderry and Nowra Christian schools are just some of the schools that Cricket NSW will be running programs at this term.
Any other schools that are interested in inviting Cricket NSW to their school to run either a one-off day visit or a four week school hero’s program, should contact the regional development manager for Southern Zone and Illawarra, Paul Brockley on 4257 3272.
