POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was found with critical head injuries at North Nowra on Tuesday afternoon.
The 52-year-old was found lying unconscious on a cement slab in front of the change rooms at the Sharman Park soccer fields by a member of the public around 2pm.
He had sustained a large wound to the back of his head and was transported to Shoalhaven Hospital and later transferred to Wollongong Hospital.

The area was taped off and forensic officers conducted an examination of the scene.
Detectives’ investigations into the matter are continuing.
Police have been unable to speak to man to ascertain what happened and say it is unclear how he was injured.
Officers said it is possible he suffered his injuries as a result of a seizure but want to rule out foul play.
