THE Shoalhaven representative team has returned from its most successful ever trip to Sutherland for the annual under 11s carnival.
The Herb Fibbins Under 11 Invitational Carnival has been hosted by the Sutherland Hockey Club for a number of years.
Aimed as a development carnival for young players, teams play a number of 20 minute games throughout the day, alternating between playing on the synthetic surface and on the grass field.
The Shoalhaven Association has been entering teams for more than a decade and posted its first ever win last weekend.
In a good overall day of competition the Shoalhaven team scored a win, had two draws and two losses.
They beat Macarthur 2-nil, had nil-all draws with Bathurst and Sydney (2) but went down 4-nil to the strong Sydney (1) team and 2-nil to Illawarra.
Aiden Fleschner and Scott Crisafi scored Shoalhaven’s goals in the win over Macarthur.
It was a great overall performance considering the side played all day with only 10 players but was aided by three senior junior players, Sophie Jones, Josh Rickwood and Ben Macdonald.
The Shoalhaven team was made up of players from the association’s three junior clubs, Allsorts, Bluejays and St Georges Basin, who all combined well considering many had never played together before.
The team was coached by Greg Pullen and also included Aiden Fleschner, Saxon Perry, Alyssa Phelan, Iszi Crawford, Scott Crisafi, Joel Kenny and Mikala Rickwood.
