SHOALHAVEN Mayor has hit back at claims a council newsletter distributed with rates notices was an exercise in expensive spin.
Cr Gash said claims the newsletter cost ratepayers more than $20,000 were irresponsible and incorrect. She said the newsletter was produced, printed and delivered for less than $3600.
“When I was elected I made a commitment to ensuring a more open line of communication between the council and the wider community.
“As part of this commitment, I will be providing the community with a quarterly newsletter updating local residents as to the work we have undertaken, future planned works and the status of other important projects.”
Cr Gash said the newsletter was just one tool she is utilising to further engage the community.
As well as her regular spots on local radio, the Mayor will shortly be undertaking a number of village visits and roundtable discussions throughout the community to find out the main issues affecting local residents.
