BUSHIDO Judo Club at Shoalhaven Heads played host to international competitors Jett and Jade Vongxaysay from Singapore.
Their father, Air Vongxaysay, was a judo student of Bruce Fagan for eight years, 30 years ago and won medals in three Australian titles.
Air was a very strong minded competitor and achieved great results in his judo.
Even though Jett lives in Singapore, he is still a member of Bushido Judo Club and because of his father’s work commitments he is able to compete in Singapore, Malaya, China, Vietnam and here in Australia and has been quite successful in winning tournaments.
Jett and Jade have a tremendously good attitude to playing judo which leads to Jett having so much success in tournaments and he really enjoys his judo in general.
Air and his family come back to Australia when the school holidays are on in Singapore because all of Air’s family lives here in Australia.
Every time they come to Australia, Jett and Jade come down to Shoalhaven Heads from Sydney on the Tuesday night and Wednesday night to train and support Bushido members here at the South Coast. Being an international competitor his knowledge will certainly help the members.
Air is more than happy for Jett and Jade to train under coach Darren Fagan when he comes to Shoalhaven Heads.
All the coaches, some of whom have competed in the Olympics and world titles and have won international events, give their time freely to give the children.
It offers enjoyment in this family sport, which teaches discipline and respect.
Anyone interested in learning judo can call 4448 8494 or visit Shoalhaven Community Centre at Shoalhaven Heads between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
