A FORMER Catholic priest will reappear in Penrith Local Court on August 9 after appearing in court on Monday, charged with five counts of indecent assault offences against children dating back to the 1970s.
Robert Flaherty, 70, who now lives at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains, appeared in court on Monday and had his bailed continued.
The offences were alleged to have taken place in the Shoalhaven and Sydney up to 40 years ago.
Detectives from Blacktown Local Area Command established Strike Force Nemesis to investigate the allegations.
The alleged victims were aged between 11 and 15.
A suppression order was sought but declined.
A brief will be presented to the court by August 26, with replies by September 13.
