A 26-year-old man suffering suspected spinal injuries was airlifted to hospital from a property on Yalwal Road, Barringella.
Around 12.20pm on Saturday, March 16 the Weston man was at a party on a private property when he back flipped off a bridge and dived into shallow water injuring his neck.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was treated before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital.
Police believed that around 2000 people were present at a dance party on the property.
Shoalhaven Local Area Command duty officer Inspector Steve Johnson said while parties were a fun way to socialise, they needed to be safe.
“Although most celebrations go off without a hitch, sometimes things go wrong,” he said.
“The consequences of parties going wrong can be traumatic – from issues such as home damage or financial loss to legal implications and psychological trauma.”
The NSW Police Force website www.mynite.com.au provides information on how to minimise risks at a party.
