Feathers will fly in Berry this Sunday

MORE than 700 birds will go under the hammer at the Shoalhaven Poultry Auction this Sunday.

A wide variety of birds will be available for sale at the Berry Poultry Pavilion at the Berry Showground.

The event is raising funds for A Taste of Paradise, a local charity that provides farm-based mentoring and a work experience program for young people.

The poultry shed will open from 9am to view the birds and the auction will start at 10am.

All buyers must register prior to bidding and payments are by cash only.

Some much sought after breeds, large and bantam and other birds such as guinea fowl, ducks and even turkeys will be offered for sale.

A huge variety of birds will be available and already organisers have confirmed that breeds such Australorps, light Sussex, eyandottes, silver spangle and black Hamburgs, Barnevelders, Cochin, Rhode Island reds, Ancona and silkies as well as a selection of bantams will go under the hammer.

Food and all accessories needed for your new birds will also be available for purchase. 

Parking is inside the showground for a gold coin donation and that money will go to A Taste of Paradise. 

Refreshments are available all day including free range egg and bacon rolls and gourmet coffee
