BOMADERRY RSL has been announced as a platinum partner for the 2013 Sports Tourism Partner Program.
The ongoing council initiative offers local businesses the opportunity to partner with council in advancing the local area.
Since the program’s inception in 2011, council has secured close to $9 million in tourism revenue through the securing of high profile sporting events within the area.
The current list of 2013 Sports Tourism Partner Program events includes the 2013 Makai Cup, South Coast Open Taekwondo Championships, 2013
Special Olympics Australia NSW State Games, the NSW Women’s Bowling Association 84th state carnival, AFL NSW/ACT Shoalhaven inter league carnival, Cycling NSW Club Teams Time Trials Championships, and the Cycling NSW Shoalhaven CycloSportif.
“This injection into the local economy has resulted in a sharp increase in tourism numbers in traditionally ‘off peak’ seasons with accommodation providers, restaurants and other service providers all receiving a much welcome boost during traditionally slower periods,” said Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Joanna Gash.
“With sporting participants and spectators travelling from both international and domestic destinations to both compete in and view these events, participating businesses are not only helping the local community but opening up local, regional and national marketing opportunities.”
