THE Shoalhaven City and Shoalhaven Lions Linear Accelerator and Cancer Treatment Fundraising Committee has raised more than $1.7 million.
The Lions clubs Shoalhaven are planning a submission to Lions International that could see an instant injection of $75,000 to the fund.
Shoalhaven Lions is made up of seven Lions clubs and one Lioness club. They are applying to Lions International for the annual grant of up to $75,000.
Nowra Lion and former Lions district governor Ian Hughes said there were 740 Lions districts worldwide and he was confident that the more than $100,000 the Lions clubs of Shoalhaven had contributed to the cancer care centre would be a strong proposition to put to the Lions International judges.
“Each district can apply for up to $75,000 each year. Their projects and efforts are judged and if they believe we have done enough we could be eligible for that money,” Mr Hughes said.
