ON Saturday a group of local cycling enthusiasts will join others around the nation to ride 640 kilometres from Sydney to the top of Mount Kosciuszko.
This will be the 19th ride since its inception in 1995. The ride has so far raised more than $330,000 for various charities including Guide Dogs, Breast Cancer, African Orphanage, Kids With Grit (program for children affected by domestic violence) and Hope Street Compassion.
Hope Street will be the beneficiary of the ride this year. Hope Street Compassion seeks to make a difference to homeless people.
The goal for fund-raising this year is $40,000.
Last year a large contingent of riders from Berry and Kiama participated in the event.
This year Peter Jirgens, Helen Troy, Steve Long and David Kerr will represent the Shoalhaven.
