Elleman finds her feet in fast-paced rugby

BERRY’S Harriet Elleman is a woman who sees an opportunity and grabs it with both hands.

In a world where women’s sport often takes the back seat, the 19-year-old  did not hesitate when offered an opportunity to trial for the NSW women’s rugby sevens squad.

Despite being a newcomer to the sport Elleman was selected to join the NSW team training squad, progressing through to the top 50 women in contention for the NSW team selection.

Over the past month the animal science student has been in Sydney training with some of Australia’s best coaches as she targets selection in the NSW team and possibly an inaugural Australian women’s sevens side jersey for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Elleman plays as a prop for the North Sydney Redbacks in women’s sevens tournaments, and last weekend narrowly missed out on a grand final berth at the popular Kiama Sevens Festival.
