X FACTOR: Gabby Dover from Berry has been on the catwalk at some of the world’s finest fashion shows this week.
VICTORIA Beckham is obsessed with a teenager from Berry.
Last year Gabby Dover from Berry finished her HSC. Last month she worked New York Fashion Week with Victoria Beckham. This month she was at London Fashion Week before jetting off to Paris. Who knows what next week holds?
Proud – and just a little overwhelmed – at the pace of their daughter’s life of late is how her parents Megan and Peter Dover are feeling.
“It has been five weeks and Gabby is still overseas on an open ended ticket,” Mrs Dover said.
“She told us in an email she was overwhelmed by it all.
“She said she couldn’t believe this was happening to her.
“But Gabby’s a South Coast girl and she’s unaffected by it all,” Mrs Dover said.
The stars aligned while Gabby and some friends were celebrating schoolies week in Byron Bay late last year.
She walked into a clothing store and the owner asked if she would model for her next catalogue.
Gabby agreed and following the shoot, the photographer showed the images to Priscilla’s model agency in Sydney.
She was invited to Priscilla’s in January and was signed up on the spot and taken to the Vogue office that afternoon.
The next day Gabby received a phone call requesting her presence at New York Fashion Week.
While there she landed a job with Victoria Beckham, who used Gabby to work out her looks leading up to her parade.
Beckham, who has a large social media fan base, tweeted that she was “Obsessed with Gabby”.
Mrs Dover said when Gabby was 14 years old she won the face of fashion competition.
“We said then she was too young and as parents we worked to put a lid on that.
“I guess it’s not the sort of industry you want your daughter going into until she’s old enough to cope,” Mrs Dover said.
Priscilla’s said Gabby has taken to the world of modelling like a duck to water.
Lizzi Leighton Clark said Gabby’s potential was obvious from the moment she saw her pictures.
“We knew that she had the potential for huge success as a model both locally and internationally,” Ms Leighton Clark said.
“When we met her this was made even more apparent. Gabby has all the physical attributes necessary for international success as a model but also the most beautiful personality and energy that really shines through.
“These two things combined with a supportive family and the perfect timing have all resulted in her very sudden success as a model on the international stage.”
