And an aside

THE following letter was published in Friday’s Sydney Morning Herald. It seems Elizabeth Farrelly has once again stirred the Shoalhaven pot in her outspoken opinion column (the last time was in her comments about the proposed Berry bypass). We liked the sentiment of this correspondent’s rebuttal of an assertion Ms Farrelly made this week.

Nowra and forever

THE assertion by Elizabeth Farrelly of the Australian takeover of London by Australian names and brands reads like an apologist payback to the Brits for their pilfering of treasures from the Old World over the centuries. (‘Antipodean fingerprints smear UK’, February 21).

However, she is wrong when she writes that the new Westfield, “the biggest urban shopping centre in Europe” makes London feel like Nowra on a bad day. As one who travels frequently to the Shoalhaven, I can assure her there is no such thing as a bad day in Nowra.
