Fallen tree cuts power to Culburra

MORE than 2000 homes in Culburra Beach were without power for more than an hour and a half and the road into the village was closed for over an hour on Sunday after powerlines were brought down.

Police said a tree branch fell on lines at 1.38pm just west of the village, bringing them down, blocking the road and interrupting power supply to the township.

More than 2330 customers suffered power interruptions.

Crews from Endeavour Energy attended the scene and made the lines safe before undertaking the necessary repairs.

More than 2100 homes had power restored by 3.10pm, with the remainder of the network back on line by 5.30pm.

Endeavour Energy has reminded residents not to approach fallen power lines and to call 131 003 to report downed lines so crews can be dispatched.
