Reilly dismisses Rudd-as-PM talk

GILMORE Labor candidate Neil Reilly has dismissed media speculation that Kevin Rudd will replace Julia Gillard as Prime Minister before the September 14 poll.

“My focus is on Gilmore. If I was the PM, I’d be thinking more about leadership issues,” he said.

“Honestly I don’t think the leadership speculation has a great influence in our electorate. Gilmore is more concerned about solid leadership and good representation rather than the political machinations in Canberra.”

Mr Reilly said he was not paying too much attention to this week’s polling that put the Labor government in an unwinnable position barring a spectacular turnaround.

“I have this to say about polls: if you plant a seed in the ground and keep digging it up to see how it’s grown, it won’t grow.”
