THE rain tried its hardest to spoil Kangaroo Valley Show, but nothing could dampen the spirits of the crowds who turned up to enjoy the last of the northern Shoalhaven shows.
Show secretary Sharon Gomez said final figures were not available yet, but gate takings were “pretty good”.
“The show went really well in spite of the weather. We had torrential rain at lunchtime Saturday for the grand parade, but it fined up a bit in the afternoon and rained again during the rodeo,” said Ms Gomez.
The horse events were well attended and continued throughout the pouring rain, while those who wanted to stay dry spent midday in the dining hall.
“It did a roaring trade and nearly ran out of food,” said Ms Gomez.
The show’s poultry pavilion was also popular with lots of entrants, while the iron man and haystacking competitions were as popular as ever and the poddy rides were a big hit with the kids.
