SHOALHAVEN Water hopes to have water back on to all residents in Bomaderry by 5pm this afternoon.
Parts of Bomaderry have been without water for most of the day after a main burst in Meroo Road last night.
Shoalhaven Water director Carmel Krogh said more than half of the 30 homes affected in the Meroo Road, Samuel Street, and Penrose Drive areas through to Jasmine Drive had had water restored.
“We hope to have all homes back on supply by 5pm this afternoon,” She said.
“At this stage we still have a couple of houses on temporary service, but it all should be restored by 5pm.”
Mrs Krogh said the repair had been a delicate operation involving other infrastructure.
“There are Telstra pits right above the break and we were concerned that they may collapse,” she said.
“There is also a gas line as well, so we had to come up with a short-term fix to get the water back on to residents.”
She said crews cutting in additional valves to allow water to be diverted around the burst section.
“We will be undertaking a major repair next week,” she said.
Shoalhaven Water staff had been in the area throughout the day distributing bottled water to affected residents and a tanker was also been made available for people who need additional water.
