NOWRA Highway Patrol Officers are growing increasingly frustrated with P-plate drivers who flout the law.
A 17-year-old youth had his licence suspended in the early hours of Sunday morning after being charged with a mid-range drink drive offence as well as breaching passenger restrictions.
The youth was stopped by police in Haigh Avenue, Nowra at 1.20am and returned a mid-range reading.
He also had three passengers under the age of 21 in the vehicle, including one who was unrestrained, lying across the back seat.
The driver will appear at a future sitting of Nowra Local Court charged with mid-range PCA, breaching passenger restrictions including having an unrestrained passenger and not displaying P plates.
Police have also issued a warning about driving while fatigued, following a lucky escape by 17-year-old woman who allegedly fell asleep while at the wheel of her car on Monday morning, just north of the site of a fatal accident on Bolong Road last week.
Police said the young woman was driving from Sydney to Nowra after having just one hour sleep when her vehicle left the roadway near the intersection of Berrys Bay and Bolong roads around 7.15am and collided with a number of trees.
The driver was helped from the wreck by witnesses, luckily uninjured.
