ANYONE driving along Greenwell Point Road over the past week or so would have noticed work being undertaken on the side of the road.
Trenches were being dug and new cables being laid.
Was it the arrival of the NBN in the area?
Unfortunately, no.
It was contractors undertaking work for Telstra, upgrading and replacing some of the old infrastructure in the area.
Telstra Country Wide Illawarra area manager Michael Marom said contractors are laying a new optical fibre cable between Nowra and Greenwell Point and out to Culburra Beach and Callala Bay.
“It is a general upgrade of services and replacing some of our infrastructure,” he said.
“They are laying out a new cable, which just happens to be fibre optical cable.”
