SHOALHAVEN City Council’s 2013 Youth Week activities, which will be staged in April, have received a boost with funding from the NSW government.
Council has received $1845 to assist in the organisation and staging of activities during Youth Week.
South Coast MP Shelley Hancock said through Youth Week, the NSW government wanted to encourage young people aged 12 to 25 years to play a greater role in their communities.
“We want to encourage people from different backgrounds to come together and get involved,” Mrs Hancock said.
“During Youth Week each year Shoalhaven City Council organises various events for local youth that have received recognition and acclaim for their professional organisation and originality.
“This funding will support council to once again work with the Youth Advisory Committee and local youth centres to stage interesting events for young people across the South Coast.
“I congratulate Shoalhaven City Council and note
the efforts of Youth Development Officer Donna Corbyn and the Shoalhaven City Council Youth Advisory Committee in organising local Youth Week events.”
This year Youth Week will run from April 5-14 with the theme ‘Be Active. Be Happy. Be You’.
