A BOUNDARY off the last ball of the day by David Arcus gave North Nowra Cambewarra Maroon a thrilling victory over Berry-Shoalhaven Heads at the Berry Sports Complex.
Needing three to win off the final ball Arcus smashed the final ball of the game to the square leg boundary to end an exciting run chase by the visitors.
Sent into bat the home side hit up a competitive 10/114 off their allocated 25 overs. Charlie Howard was the best of the Berry batsmen with 14. Ben Lans and Logan Cosgrove each scored nine.
Some accurate bowling from Aiden Woods (2/5), Lachlan Mark (2/6), Tim Abbott (2/6) kept the Berry score down.
Norths got off to flying start thanks to Lachlan Mark (16) and Aiden Woods (8) before the Berry bowlers fought their way back into the game.
In the end it came down to the final ball where Arcus (10) proved the difference between the two sides. Cosgrove (1/6), Lans (1/6), Jack Hinkley (1/7) and Darby Sheehan (1/7) were the pick of the Berry bowlers.
Joven makes his mark with the ball
SHOALHAVEN Ex-Servicemens secured an 18 run win against Nowra in the team’s clash at Lyrebird Park on Saturday.
Ex-Servos won the toss and elected to bat first.
Second and third order batsmen Darcy Hopkins (14) and Luke Jones (19) batted brilliantly to give their team a fighting chance.
The rest of the Ex-Servos order did well with their allocated overs, however Mathew Spinks (13) provided the runs needed from the lower order.
Best with the ball for Nowra was Nicholas Hanson (3/3), Jayden Lewis (3/8) and Chantelle Downey (2/8) Jayden Lewis also managed to take a catch, with Ex-Servos 17/89 at the change of innings.
Going in to bat, the Nowra outfit was strong all-round.
But the key batsmen for the team were Chayton Morris (10), Anthony Hutma (10) and Joshua Dawson (8).
Brilliant bowling from Ex-Servos’ Jackson Trost (2/9), Lorcan Edward (2/9) and Joven Croese (2/13) left for an exciting finish with Nowra scrambling to get the runs. Luke Jones, Joven Croese and Lucia Edwards all took a catch, and this brilliant fielding was enough to restrict Nowra to 10/71, just 19 runs short of the win.
Jarrett Ulladulla’s danger man
Ulludulla Blues’ Reilly Jarrett has once again been the leading man for his team, with his 20 runs leading his team to a 17 run victory against Bomaderry at Burrill Lake last Saturday.
Jarrett hit a six and took three difficult catches in what was a brilliant all-round effort.
Bomaderry won the toss and sent Ulladulla in to bat first.
Reilly Jarrett (20) made light work of his overs, and was well supported by Zara Hall (9) and Ben Ebzery (9).
The Bomaderry bowlers Kane Slater (0/5), Charlie Manwarring (0/8) and Jack Lonesborough (0/9) did their best to stem the flow of runs, with Ulladulla finishing on 2/100.
Going in to bat, Bomaderry’s Jacob Batt (12), Baden Manwarring (12) and Jack Lonesborough (8) did the most damage, despite the best efforts of Ulladulla’s Reilly Halwell (2/17), Dal Hall (1/9) and Reilly Jarrett (1/10).
Bomaderry ended its innings on 10/83, just 18 runs short of the win.
