YOUR SAY: Council is seeking comment on historic additions to Voyager Park at Huskisson.
SHOALHAVEN City Council is calling on members of the community to have their say on the future of Voyager Memorial Park at Huskisson.
A draft revised master plan is currently on public exhibition.
Council has reviewed the existing Voyager Park master plan following an approach from the Huskisson RSL Sub Branch to display various replicas of HMAS Voyager memorabilia throughout the park.
With the original master plan not providing a provision for the placement of the replica memorabilia within the park, council staff reviewed the plan to create a remembrance court.
This proposed new feature would incorporate the park’s existing ANZAC memorials with a selection of individual memorabilia items.
Shoalhaven City Mayor, Joanna Gash said given Voyager Memorial Park was such a valued community precinct it was important that the local community took the opportunity to comment on the draft revised master plan during the exhibition period.
“Voyager Memorial Park is one of the true jewels of the Shoalhaven, providing wonderful views across Jervis Bay,” Mrs Gash said.
“The park also plays a significant role in the local tourism industry, hosts a number of important annual memorial events and provides immeasurable other benefits to the local community.”
The revised draft master plan is on public exhibition until Friday, March 8. The revised plan can be viewed at council’s website www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au and council’s Nowra and Ulladulla administrative offices, the Nowra, Sanctuary Point, Milton and Ulladulla libraries as well as the Bay and Basin Leisure Centre in business hours.
