Driver used stolen plates

AN UNLICENCED driver who used stolen number plates on an unregistered car has been disqualified from driving for three years.

In Nowra Local Court, Michael Peter Seymour, 43, of Fawkener Place, Werrington County pleaded guilty to two charges of having custody of goods suspected of being stolen and driving without a licence and one charge each of driving an unregistered car, driving an uninsured car and possessing a restricted substance.

Seymour came to the attention of police on the Princes Highway at Falls Creek at 1pm on December 4, when they noticed his red Holden Commodore station wagon had different number plates on the front and back.

A check showed both plates were stolen. The back plate belonged to a RAV stolen in January 2011 from Punchbowl and the front went missing from a goods vehicle in Quakers Hill last May.

Police stopped Seymour in Central Avenue and a search found a partially crushed buprenorphine tablet, for which he was unable to provide a prescription.

A check showed his registration had expired in August.

Seymour who has never held a licence, was also caught driving on November 15.
