INSIDE EDGE

KYAH Gray has her sights firmly set on world cup selection after being selected in the 18-strong Australian women’s indoor hockey squad.

It has been a busy start to the year for the Shoalhaven Heads hockey star, who played for NSW in the Australian Open Women’s Championships held in January at Canberra.

Her impressive performance on the field led her to be selected on the squad, which stayed in Canberra at the AIS and trained for a week with Australia’s best coaches.

Gray then headed to Tasmania where she captained the under 18s NSW indoor team, which remained undefeated throughout the tournament.

Gray was named player of the tournament and her team was given a special award by umpires for displaying the best sportsmanship.

Gray will soon find out if she is one of the 12 squad members selected for the Australian team to play in Asia in October, 2013.

This will be the lead-up to the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in 2015.
