Plea for help for native animals

FOLLOWING the large number of flying foxes that came into care during the recent heatwave, Wildlife Rescue needs help.

There are 250 flying foxes being nursed and this number is expected to grow to 300 in the next week.

The bats eat 100 kilos of fruit a day and Wildlife Rescue is asking for help both with supplying apples, pears, rockmelons and watermelons and cutting them up.

Wildlife carers are also looking for volunteers to sew pouches and wraps for some of the many possums and gliders in care.

Volunteers are also wanted to help with feeding, cleaning, transport and fruit collection.

If you can help, call Joy Weatherall on 0417 677 917 or Gerry Hawkins on 0414 931 452.
