Shoalhaven Detectives are looking for a young man following the attempted sexual assault of a young woman in Berry.
About 12.30am on Thursday, a 17-year-old girl got off a train at Berry Railway Station and started to walk along Alexandra Street.
She was approached by an unknown man who dragged her into a nearby park on Alexandra Street and attempted to sexually assault her.
The girl fled the area and hid in nearby bushland, leaving behind her shirt and backpack.
She then went home and police were contacted about the incident.
Shoalhaven Detectives immediately launched an investigation into the assault and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers.
Investigators are now appealing to anyone who may have information about the incident, or know the identity of the man, to come forward.
He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his mid 20s, of slim build, 170cm tall, with short black hair.
At the time he was wearing a dark tracksuit top and pants.
Detectives are also appealing to anyone with information about, or who finds, the girl’s property, a white shirt and a black backpack, to contact them.
