New principal for St Michael’s

THERE were plenty of new faces at St Michael’s Catholic School in Nowra this week as the 2013 school year started.

As well as more than 70 new kindergarten students across three classes, the school also has a new principal, Chris Paton.

Mr Paton comes to St Michael’s from St Paul’s at Camden, where he was principal for eight years.

He replaces Paul Croker, who had been in charge locally for the past three years and has taken up a principal position at St Thomas More at Ruse.

Mr Paton brings with him a wealth of experience having been a principal in the Catholic school system for 23 years at Cronulla, Rosehill, Ruse and more recently Camden.

“I’m really looking forward to my time at St Michael’s,” he said.

“Already I’m impressed how community orientated the school is.

“There is a great relationship between the families, school and parish.

“The children are very engaging and are involved in a number of extracurricular activities throughout the region.

“There is a really good family feel within the school.”

Mr Paton will commute each day from his home in the Southern Highlands.
