SBUG to enjoy beautiful Berry

LAST Thursday eight SBUG cyclists enjoyed a scenic mountain bike ride in Booderee National Park on a sunny and warm morning with a cooling sea breeze. The riders rode on shady bush tracks and unsealed fire trails from Hyams Beach parallel to Jervis Bay, then across to Caves Beach, joining a new trail towards Summercloud Bay.

A short section of bitumen brought the riders onto Stony Creek Road, heading for the Ruined Lighthouse. Riders then left on another great route to Governor Head and Murrays Beach via the cliff line, stopping to peer at the “hole in the wall” and colourful waters.

At Murrays, two cyclists took a quick cooling dip in the beautiful clear refreshing sea where the popular beach was rapidly filling with visitors.

All too soon the cyclists began the long climb back up Naval College Road in the National Park to return to their cars at the Hyams Beach turnoff.

Refreshments were leisurely consumed at the Vincentia Bayview Cafe.

On Sunday, February 3 SBUG are hosting an easy cycle to Seven Mile Beach National Park and return. The ride starts at 9am from the Berry Railway Station car park. It will be a 15 kilometre slow pace, gently undulating scenic country road bike ride. The ride will be on bitumen with some traffic.

Riders will stop at the beach reserve to see the sea.

Coffee and refreshments will be available on return to Berry with an option to stay and wander through the famous country market at the showgrounds.
