Man jailed after spate of thefts

A NOWRA man who stole jewellery after breaking into a home in North Nowra is spending 10 months behind bars.

Trevor Daniel Hall, 34, of Scenic Drive was caught at North Nowra Tavern on January 9 attempting to sell a toy helicopter he had stolen from North Nowra Post Office, goods from North Nowra Pharmacy and the jewellery.

He had been spotted only two hours earlier when an Illaroo Road home owner returned to find Hall in her house after he had broken in through the balcony flyscreen.

She ran to a neighbour and called police.

Hall had been arrested only three weeks earlier for similar offences.

On December 18 he was arrested twice, for breaking into a car and for trying to break into South Coast Orthopaedic Services Centre. The following day he was caught on CCTV trying to break into the Thai Riverside Restaurant.

When Hall appeared in Nowra Local Court he was also fined $1912 for breaching bonds for unlicensed driving and carrying a cutting weapon and two charges of entering enclosed land and one of entering a car.

His 20-month jail sentence, half of which is custodial, covers two charges of larceny, one of break, enter and steal and one of damage property.
