The kindness of strangers

A BIG thank you to the kind and generous people of Nowra who assisted me during the 47 degree heat on Friday. I’d collapsed on getting out of my car, was lying on the footpath and within minutes I felt myself being cared for – something soft placed under my head, a cold bottle of water sent over by someone from the service station, someone ringing an ambulance and a man holding an umbrella over me. Someone got my handbag and mobile phone and locked my car and reassured me. Two gentle, caring ambulance men cared for me on the way to hospital. Then more gentle, attentive caring by the nurses, staff and doctor at the hospital during my four to five-hour stay. Then to top it all off Maree had rung the hospital and told them she would pick me up and return me to my car. Thank you all so much.

P. DeLaney,

Narooma.
