“IT sounded like a bomb, like an explosion on my roof,” Worrigee resident Noel Wilson said after a large trampoline landed on his house in last Friday’s wind.
The trampoline was picked up by a strong southerly that hit the Shoalhaven following Friday’s record heat.
The trampoline smashed a hole in the roof, then flew over to Mr Wilson’s neighbour’s house smashing a hole in his roof and landing in his front yard.
Mr Wilson’s neighbour Peter Adamczyk said the trampoline eventually landed where he normally parked his car.
“Thankfully the car was in the garage,” he said.
Mr Wilson said a woman from across the road came over and told him that she saw the trampoline land on the roofs.
Mr Wilson said he had a large hole in his roof with smashed tiles.
Due to a leg injury he was unable to climb onto his roof to repair it.
“I contacted the SES because I thought it was going to rain,” he said.
“It was the first time I had needed to contact them and I was very impressed.
“They were professional and efficient, they were magic. Without them I would have been in trouble.
“The SES were here for about four hours fixing our roofs and nothing was a problem for them.
“I just want the community to know how good they are,” he said.
While no one was hurt Mr Adamczyk said judging by the damage to the roofs, the trampoline could have hurt someone had it hit them.
“It was one of those large trampolines,” he said.
“It is probably a good idea for people to peg them down so they don’t blow around in the wind. If it hit someone it would cause injury,” Mr Adamczyk said.
