OPINIONS: CareSouth out of home care case worker and Antipoverty Committee member Lisa Logan is ready to film the people of the Shoalhaven giving their views on poverty in the area.
OVER the next six months you’re likely to see a colourful filming booth and video camera pop up in varying locations around the Shoalhaven.
The Shoalhaven Antipoverty Committee is conducting a research project for which it will produce a community documentary featuring the views and opinions of local residents on poverty.
The documentary will premiere at a red carpet event during Antipoverty Week, October 14-19.
CareSouth out of home care case worker and Antipoverty Committee member Lisa Logan said the committee was collecting qualitative and quantitative data.
“We are using survey tools and making this documentary to gather the general public’s views on poverty in the area and how it might be changed,” she said.
“It’s a tool to promote awareness that poverty exists in the Shoalhaven, but also to help provide services.”
Ms Logan spent Friday at Stockland Nowra for the first day of gathering footage and by mid-morning quite a number of people had contributed already.
“We would like to encourage the public, there are no wrong opinions, it’s just what people think and feel about the issue,” she said.
“We are all passionate about making a difference.”
