POLICE are appealing for public assistance after a bullet was fired into a service station during an attempted robbery at Tomerong. Just after 9pm on Tuesday, a 35-year-old male service station attendant walked outside the Log Cabin service station on the Princes Highway at Tomerong to begin packing up for the night. The attendant saw a man outside carrying a rifle and ran back inside and locked the doors. According to police the man began banging on the glass doors with the firearm before firing a shot that narrowly missed the attendant. The offender then fled the scene, the attendant was not injured. Police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command were contacted and arrived a short time later, establishing a crime scene that was examined by specialist forensic officers. The offender has been described as being about 170cm tall, with a slim build and a light brown complexion. At the time he was wearing a light blue coloured zip up jacket, a cream coloured baseball cap, and had his face concealed.
