Police call for help in search for vehicle that reversed into highway patrol car

POLICE are searching for a vehicle that reversed into a Highway Patrol car on Friday night.

Shortly after 11pm, officers patrolling the Princes Highway near Foxground, saw a Toyota Landcruiser swerving across lanes as it travelled north.

Police conducted a check which revealed the number plates did not match the vehicle.

Officers immediately activated the police car’s lights and sirens and stopped the vehicle a short distance down the highway.

Shortly after the two police officers stepped out of the Highway Patrol car, the driver of the Landcruiser started revving the vehicle and reversed it into the police car, forcing both officers to jump out of the way.

The vehicle then sped from the scene in a northbound direction. Despite an extensive search, it has not yet been located.

Police would now like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw a white Toyota Landcruiser Troop Carrier driving north along the Princes Highway late on Friday night.

The vehicle was bearing NSW number plates SRK 099, however it is believed the plates were illegally fitted on the vehicle.
