Police from the Shoalhaven Local Area Command are investigating a suspicious fire in a shed on the state’s south coast yesterday.
About 3pm (Monday, 14 January, 2013), two men aged 56 and 59, who reside on a property in Hannigans Lane, Bolong, saw smoke coming from the rear of a large shed on their property.
The two men ran to the shed and attempted to extinguish the blaze prior to the arrival of NSW Fire and Rescue crews.
As a result, the fire was brought under control however the 59-year-old man suffered serious smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
He was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Detectives from Shoalhaven Local Area Command are investigating the incident and have received information that just prior to the fire starting, a man described as being aged in his fifties and obese, was seen walking from the area.
