WITH the indulgences of the festive season behind us, it is now time to concentrate on track and field.
The Nowra Athletics Club’s summer competition resumes tonight at the Ron Brown Sporting Complex. Starting time is 6pm sharp, so be sure to arrive at 5.45pm for administration and announcements.
Club members are reminded that the NSW Athletic Country Championships is being held at Glendale on January 25, 26 and 27.
The next few weeks of competition at Summer Athletics are a great opportunity for athletes to sharpen their skills and finalise training before the big meet.
With the weather hitting the high temperatures of late, competitors are reminded to be mindful of their fluid intake prior to and during competition.
A stretching routine is also a good idea to prevent strains and other injuries.
Nowra Athletics Club is a family-friendly club which encourages everyone of all ages and abilities to come along and give track and field a go.
Why not come along tonight? You will meet new friends, and learn a new sport while having fun along the way.
Claire Pitkethly’s farewell dinner is this Saturday night, January 12, at the Bomaderry Bowling Club.
The cost is $20 per person with a start time of 7pm.
Claire is a popular member of the club and has been the club’s tireless treasurer for many years, so it will be sad to see her go.
Club secretary Jan Gibb is the person to contact on 44460226 with any enquiries regarding track and field.
I look forward to seeing you there.
The Nowra Athletics Club also conducts a summer road runs competition.
Runners compete each week at various locations in a six kilometre handicap race. This weeks’ road run competition will be at the Culburra course, meeting at Lake Wollumboola at about 6.15pm on Friday evening, with the run starting at 6.30pm.
