False alarm for expectant mother

IN the midst of Tuesday night’s fire emergency, as the blaze cut off Sussex Inlet, a pregnant woman had to be rushed from the seaside village to Nowra after developing labour pains.

The woman started developing the pains early in the evening, and was examined by paramedics who thought it best she be taken to Shoalhaven Hospital in Nowra.

With Sussex Inlet Road and the Princes Highway closed to all traffic because of dense smoke, the paramedics were given special permission to transport the woman to Nowra.

However it was reported the woman hadn’t delivered her baby and was expected to be released from hospital on Wednesday.
