SYDNEY’S Mark Brown needed all of his speed, courage, aggression and skill to successfully defend his Australian Speedcar grand prix crown at Nowra Speedway last Saturday night.
Brown chalked up his fourth Speedcar GP title with a forceful display of driving that saw him fight to the front of the pack before taking the chequered flag ahead of Adam Wallis, with Dave Lambert in third.
“Adam (Wallis) left the door open and I jumped in there,” Brown said after the race, describing his hard charging move to take the lead.
Wallis admitted that Brown would have passed him sooner or later after the final caution period.
“That’s Mark (Brown), he’s a very aggressive driver,” he said.
“That’s how you have to be at this level and that’s why he wins titles.”
A fourth AGP trophy puts Brown alongside 1950’s speedway greats Ray Revell and Andy McGavin as the only three drivers to win the prestigious event four or more times.
Nowra Speedway once again attracted a huge crowd and perfect weather conditions greeted the field for the 62nd running of the historic event.
