BOMADERRY Bowling Club recorded its best ever catering sales for the month of November last year.
Club secretary manager Garry Wilbraham said the club’s previous best month was just under $200,000 in catering sales but November broke that record with $225,000 achieved.
“It was our best ever month since our major renovations in 2006,” he said.
“It was up 12 per cent on our previous best performance and up 15.5 per cent on the corresponding month the previous year.
“Catering was by far the best department the club had for November, outperforming both bar takings and gaming revenue.
Mr Wilbraham put the success of the catering department down to the popularity of school formals.
“We catered for nine year 10 and 12 formals, including one off-site,” he said.
“We actually catered for Vincentia High’s formal at the school with the help of their hospitality students.
“We even staged one kindergarten graduation.”
Mr Wilbraham said trading was solid despite the next two months traditionally being a quieter period.
“Things quietened down the last week before Christmas and January and February are always a quieter period as there are not as many parties and weddings and in February we also have the local show season,” he said.
“We expect things to pick back up in March and look forward to another positive year of trading.”
